Where amusement parks have just wrapped up their Halloween event, and prepare for their winter season. It’s time for the Horror Zone to begin with their Halloween event; Horror Zone is a Halloween event that takes place every November in Bosschenhoofd, North Brabant. The event is organized by a group of enthusiastic volunteers. And you can tell! You can clearly tell from this group that they have horror in their blood. You can notice this not only in the way they act, but also in the attention paid to the various haunted houses and experiences that Horror Zone has to offer. Is Horror Zone an event you should attend even if you are not a Halloween enthusiast? You will find out in my latest blog.. What does Bart say about Horror Zone – Area 73 👽

This year the Horror Zone has 4 haunted houses and an experience (The Golden Lady, Mc Ferguson Meat Factory – Take over, Crash Site 73, Madame Julie’s Hippie Hideout & experience Fort Texas Sunshine). You enter the military base where you can find actors walking around. Except for the actors’ clothing, it was not obvious that this was supposed to represent a military base. The actors had nice interaction with the visitors, and the hunting for aliens once in a while was well done.
I was really looking forward to the experience where you have to shoot aliens with a laser gun. The idea is great, but the execution could be better. It is a very dark haunted house with little decoration. The actors who had to hunt us down did not get off to a good start, where it started well with an actor handing out the weapons and explaining what was expected of us, I felt that the actors in the haunted house could have given a little more energy.
This year, The Golden Lady and Mc Ferguson Meat Factory – Take over were my favorite haunted houses. Both haunted houses were well put together, and there was a clear storyline. Great scares, where you often see a scare coming, the scares here regularly came as a surprise. You were regularly tricked, only to be caught by an actor next to you. If I have to choose between these two haunted houses I will rank The Golden Lady at #1. In Crashsite 73 you are given a sample of the Alien DNA. The actors were mostly concerned with the person holding the Alien DNA, allowing the rest of your group to walk right through. Too bad! Madame Julie’s Hippie Hideout was, in my opinion, the least haunted house, and therefore did not stick with me very well.
The event is well set up where you can have a great time with a group of friends. I do not recommend going to the event alone, or with too small a group. There is a chance that you will visit the haunted houses one after the other, and be done after a few hours. What I do recommend is going to the event as soon as the gates open, on a busy night you need all the time you can get to visit the haunted houses and have a break at the bar. Even though I didn’t like the theme as much this year as previous years, besides that we had a great night!
Thanks for reading, and until the next one!
Bart
