When you think about Paris, your mind probably instantly thinks about tourist attractions like the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe. But did you know Paris is also the home of an amusement park? After a short metro journey you will find park Jardin d’Acclimatation, an amusement park with several attractions, a petting farm and catering facilities. I’ve heard positive stories about Jardin d’Acclimatation and had to find out for myself. Is Jardin d’Acclimatation worth visiting when you’re staying in Paris for a couple of days? Find out now in.. What does Bart say about.. Jardin d’Acclimatation 🦚

If you’re planning on visiting Jardin d’Acclimatation, I recommend traveling by public transport. You can purchase a metro ticket for €2,50 at one of the ticket machines or at the servicedesk, once you reach metro station “Les Sablon” it’s about a 5 minute walk to the park’s main entrance. I highly recommend traveling to Jardin d’Acclimatation. It’s a cheap way to travel to the park, and you don’t have to drive through the very busy centre of Paris. And another added advantage is that you will be able to get straight to the attractions.
Jardin d’Acclimatation offers multiple ticket options to enter the park, with or without tickets to ride the attractions (at the entrance of each attraction is mentioned how many tickets you need for a ride, this is also mentioned on their website). It’s possible to buy a park ticket at the park entrance. If you’re planning a trip to Paris and a visit to Jardin d’Acclimatation, I recommend you buy your ticket online, if you buy your ticket on time it will give you a small discount for buying in advance.
I’ve bought the park ticket with unlimited rides, but to be honest this is not something I recommend. The reason I don’t recommend you buy an unlimited pass before entering the park is because you don’t know which attractions are operational on the day of your visit. The website didn’t mention any closed rides (except for one roller coaster but I knew that before buying my ticket). I went to the park thinking that the rest of the roller coasters would be operational, unfortunately this was not the case. Of the 5 roller coasters, 2 were operational. I went to the park’s information desk to ask what the status was and whether the other roller coasters would open later. They couldn’t give me an answer to this and referred me to the park’s website to get an answer to my question. Nothing had been announced on the website about a closure of the roller coasters, which was a slight disappointment but that did not stop me from still having a few fun hours in the park.

I unfortunately did not manage to get all 5 roller coaster credits, but was able to do a number of re-rides on the roller coasters that were open (Souris Mécaniques in particular was a success). And the flat rides the park has to offer are very unique. It’s not often you get to sit in a roller coaster or flat ride in the middle of Paris, surrounded by the authentic buildings.
Conclusion: is Jardin d’Acclimatation worth a visit while you’re visiting Paris? Yes! If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while, visiting Jardin d’Acclimatation definitely is the place to go. If you don’t feel like going to the attractions, the petting zoo is a godsend, and with the many catering points scattered throughout the park, you can have a great time for a few hours. Are you with children? No problem! Bring a book and let the kids do their thing in the playground. The park is large but uncluttered. And it surprised me, close to the city centre that it was really quiet, you couldn’t hear sounds of the busy city but the singing of the birds and animals in the area.
Jardin d’Acclimatation is very green, the flower boxes are filled with colourful flowers and plants and the attractions in the park are well maintained. If you are an amusement park lover and want to visit the park specifically for the attractions, I recommend planning an extra activity in Paris. Also keep in mind that certain attractions may close temporarily due to a lunch break (I did visit on a very quiet day, on a busy day the rides might stay open). Also keep in mind that some attractions open later, so don’t worry if you can’t make it to the entrance at park opening. When you arrive at the park in the early afternoon you still have enough time to get the rides you would like to ride, and I expect this to be the case even on busy days.
