What does Bart say about.. Winter Feelings in Toverland 🎄

The 2025 season has officially come to an end, the Halloween decorations have been taken down, and a handful of parks have chosen to keep their doors open during the winter months with their own winter events – Toverland being one of them with Winter Feelings. What I remember from my last Winter Feelings visit was that it was a cozy, well-organized event. Are the Winter Feelings still a well-organized event? I’ll share my thoughts about the Winter Feelings in.. What does Bart say about.. Winter Feelings in Toverland 🎄

As soon as you drive onto the parking lot, you see them standing: snow-covered Christmas trees full of twinkling lights. This immediately shows that Toverland hasn’t been idle in the weeks following the end of Halloween Days/Nights. If you’ve read my previous blogs, you know how enthusiastic I get about extra decorations, especially when it comes to Winter/Christmas decorations, my day couldn’t get any better! And to think I wasn’t even inside the park yet..! Toverland opens at 11:00 AM during Winter Feelings, however, from 10:30 AM onwards, you may enter the entrance area, Port Laguna (renamed Winter Laguna during Winter Feelings), including open food and drink stalls and extra winter activities (tire track, curling rink, and ice skating rink). If you’ve visited Toverland before, you know Port Laguna as a summer theme area, so it can be hard to imagine how this area would look with a winter twist. But Toverland has managed to pull it off! And while keeping the summer theme with the palm trees, did Toverland manage to transport this area into a cozy winter scene, and they even had fake snow falling to the ground. Except for the temperature, it almost felt like celebrating Christmas in Australia with the decorated palm trees. I can only say: well done, Toverland!

It was cold during my visit, very cold… before getting fully immersed in the winter atmosphere in the rest of the park, it was time for a warm drink at the Almhut, which is unfortunately a lot smaller than it used to be, but still very cozy. With a view of Winter Laguna and Mariah Carey playing in the background, I waited for the park gates to open. A few minutes before 11 o’clock, the gates opened, and I ran to Troy to start my day at Toverland off right. During my visit earlier this year, Troy was under maintenance, and despite the track not being fully warmed up, Troy was riding great again! A wooden roller coaster that is still fully made of wood (many wooden roller coasters have opted for RMC treatment or Titan Track), and I hope it stays that way. Enough about Troy, this blog is about Winter Feelings. A comprehensive (general) Toverland blog will surely come online again in the 2026 season (at least, I hope to visit Toverland again during the 2026 season)!

As I mentioned earlier, Toverland didn’t sit still after Halloween Days/Nights: each themed area got its own decorations. In “Land van Toos”, the pink, orange, and playful theme of Toos and Morrel is clearly visible. In Wunderwald, the red of Maximus is prominent, and if you look closely, you can even see Maximus’ inventions and tools hanging in the Christmas trees and garlands. The same theme has been applied in Ithaka, but instead of tools, small Trojan horses hang in the garlands, of course, as a reference to Troy. And in the “Magische Vallei”, the bare trees are adorned with lights, and illuminated butterflies. And has Morgana returned to Avalon with the snow-covered Christmas trees? It almost seems that way, but fortunately Morgana has not returned and it is fake snow that has been sprayed over the Christmas trees. The decorations really come alive when the twilight sets in, and the lights start to shine. From that moment on, I didn’t care if I rode any attractions; the decorations were an attraction in themselves. On the lake in Avalon, campfires light up the water, the blue track of Fenix lights up red when the train rushes by, and in Ithaka, Troy is shrouded in darkness. The Dwervels slowly fall asleep to the music of Katara, and in Winter Laguna, everyone prepares for the Magical Winter Festival to conclude an amazing day.

With a beautifully decorated park and all attractions operational (even the water attractions), you’re not done yet. Entertainment has also been taken care of! From 1:00 PM, most of the entertainment starts, allowing you to visit your favorite attractions in the morning/early afternoon and then continue your way through the different theme areas, each with its own entertainment. I started in Wunderwald with the “Winter Wonder Collectors”; an act that I remembered from a few years ago. The interaction with the audience is fun, the songs fit the story, but it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. It also felt a bit too long, so I ended up walking away during the show. Something I was really enthusiastic about was the “Winterse Klanken” in Ithaka, with a mix of Dutch and English songs. It was a delight to listen to, and I barely could stand still during their performance. If you’re visiting Toverland this winter, I highly recommend stopping by to watch this act. If you don’t get warm enough from the campfire, you’ll definitely get warm from dancing! Believe me, standing still during this act is almost impossible.

Winter Feelings wouldn’t be complete without a performance from Toos and Morrel, the warm winter wishes from Merlin and inventor Maximus. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to visit these acts, but you can find the showtimes for these acts – and the ones I described – in the Toverland app!

In Winter Laguna, the Magical Winter Festival takes place at the end of the day, a 15-minute performance that brings everyone together! Toos and Morrel temporarily leave the “Land van Toos” for Winter Laguna, Merlin and Arlene come from Avalon, and Maximus has designed an invention that allows him to be present at the Magical Winter Festival too. Part of the ice skating rink will be closed off during the show (the Almhut side), I highly recommend arriving early (especially on busy days) to secure a good spot. The performance lasts about 15 minutes and isn’t interactive, but that’s not necessary here. There’s enough going on to keep your attention for the full 15 minutes. With a performance like this, you perfectly wrap up a day of Winter Feelings. Something I won’t forget anytime soon.

Conclusion: Are the Winter Feelings still a well-organized event? Yes! Toverland shows with the Winter Feelings that they’re not afraid to invest extra budget to put on a good event. With ambitious plans for the future, Toverland is a park that definitely needs to be kept an eye on. It could become a major competitor in the European market. Something I more than wish for them!
