What Does Bart Say: Plopsaland Belgium 25 years – The Grand Finale!

It’s been a little over two years since I last visited Plopsaland Belgium, and to be honest, that is way too long. I’ve genuinely been missing the rush of those high-speed launches and the pure, unadulterated joy of one of Europe’s absolute best roller coasters: The Ride to Happiness by Tomorrowland. With the park celebrating its 25th anniversary, it felt like the perfect moment to head back to De Panne and see how much has changed.

The excitement started the moment I saw the park’s skyline appearing in the distance. Right at 10:00 AM, the grand gates finally swung open, and stepping back onto the plaza felt like coming home. I was immediately greeted by a wave of nostalgia and the smiling faces of my favorite Studio 100 characters, all dancing along to those legendary, all-too-familiar tunes that you just can’t help but hum along to.

Even though I’m a planner and had already meticulously checked the daily schedule in the Plopsa app, I hadn’t expected the Welcome Show to hit me quite like it did. There is something truly special about the energy at the start of the day; the combination of the music, the characters, and the sheer enthusiasm of the staff left a lasting impression on me. It didn’t just start my day—it truly set a magical tone for everything that was to come. Looking back, I honestly couldn’t have asked for a more perfect or vibrant way to kick off this long-awaited return!

A great tip for your visit: download the Plopsa app! 📱
To make the most out of your day, I highly recommend downloading the official Plopsa app before you even reach the gates. It’s a total game-changer that puts all the information you need right in the palm of your hand. From real-time showtimes and current wait times for your favorite coasters to managing your Express Pass, it’s all there.

On top of that, the app makes your day much more relaxed by allowing you to order food and drinks directly from your phone—meaning less time standing in line and more time enjoying the park! Plus, you’ll have everything from your parking ticket to your Photopass right at your fingertips, so no more fumbling with loose papers or emails. It’s the ultimate digital companion that ensures you won’t miss a single moment of the magic!

No matter how tempting it is to start your day in Plopsaland with one of the best roller coasters in Europe, this time I decided to walk straight past and head towards Heidi the Ride. And believe me, that requires some serious self-control; when you see The Ride to Happiness by Tomorrowland shining in the morning sun, hearing that iconic soundtrack and those first screams of joy, you really only want one thing: to hop in for a ride immediately. However, after a thrilling lap on Heidi, I managed to restrain myself and went for a walk around the rest of the park first to soak in the atmosphere. Plopsaland certainly hasn’t been sitting still lately, investing heavily in both thrill and family-oriented attractions like Wickie’s Wervelwind—which, as the first Wild Swing in Belgium, adds a unique dynamic to Wickieland—and the relocated Rijschool Suikerbuik, which moved from the busy main entrance plaza to a much more fitting spot near the Big & Betsy Hoeve.

With the opening of Rijschool Suikerbuik, the revamped Tractorweide, and the reopened Big & Betsy Hoeve, this part of the park has been transformed beyond recognition—and it’s a transformation this area desperately needed. The results are truly impressive and show exactly where Plopsaland excels today: where the tractors used to drive through a rather barren, simple field just a few years ago, they now move through an authentic, atmospheric countryside. It’s lush, detailed, and blends in much better with the surrounding theme. It’s exactly this kind of attention to detail and storytelling that makes this area of the park feel like one cohesive, immersive area where you can truly get lost in the farm life.

While making my way back towards The Ride to Happiness, I passed the biggest—and perhaps most ambitious—change in the park’s history: the massive renovation of the Main Entrance Plaza. The old train station, the iconic FC De Kampioenen Café, and several dining locations have made way for Plopsa Plaza, the largest expansion in the 25-year history of Plopsaland Belgium. This isn’t just a minor face-lift; Plopsa Plaza won’t just feature a groundbreaking new attraction—the Flying Cinema, Belgium’s first Flying Theater where you’ll soar over Europe with Maya the Bee—but also a brand-new Grand Café serving authentic Belgian delicacies, a state-of-the-art bowling alley, and an immersive arcade hall to keep the fun going even after the coasters close.

Not to be forgotten, a brand-new, grand station for the Plopsa Express is also on the way. A fun fact for the seasoned Plopsa visitors: the tracks are actually being extended once again to make this ambitious new stop possible! The grand opening is scheduled for 2027, coinciding with the launch of the other new attractions and dining locations. At this very moment, a highly detailed scale model is already on display at the Main Entrance Plaza, offering an excellent and exciting preview of what’s to come. For those who really want to dive deeper into the technical side and the project’s secrets, the entire construction process can be followed closely through the fascinating YouTube series on the official Plopsa Channel. Looking up and seeing The Ride to Happiness by Tomorrowland roar past the construction site, its spinning cars silhouetted against the sky, I simply couldn’t resist any longer; it was finally time for a ride, and of course, I couldn’t settle for just one!

Entertainment at its Finest, behind the magic:
Alongside the visible investments in current and future attractions, Plopsaland has definitely not been sitting still behind the scenes. A prime example? That Welcome Show I mentioned earlier. While it looks like a spontaneous burst of joy at the park gates, it’s actually the result of months of meticulous planning. And the ambition doesn’t stop there. Plopsaland has been investing heavily in high-level entertainment that truly raises the bar.

Take the massive Plopsa Dream Show of 2025, for instance—drawing in a staggering 90,000 visitors who watched all their favorite Studio 100 characters share the stage in one epic spectacle. More recently, the Piet Piraat show graced the Plopsa Theater before heading out on its tour across Flanders. These aren’t just your typical “theme park skits”—we’re talking about impressive, full-scale theater productions that often last over 75 minutes. The best part? They are simply included in your Plopsa ticket. Honestly, that’s something many other theme parks could learn a thing or two from!

The line-up gets even more exciting later this year when Sleeping Beauty the Musical makes its exclusive return to the Plopsa Theater. While this is a separately ticketed event, believe me: it’s a high-caliber production you absolutely don’t want to miss.

Dining with a pirate twist:
Right next to the iconic SuperSplash, you’ll notice that work is in full swing on the final touches of the revamped Piratengrill. This isn’t just a place to grab a bite; it’s a spot where entertainment takes center stage. In this brand-new concept, it’s all about the total experience. Picture table service and live actors, with a massive grill right in the heart of the restaurant as the focal point.

The arrival of this new Piratengrill isn’t a huge surprise, considering the original building was completely demolished to be rebuilt from the ground up. Since it borders the renovated Plopsa Plaza, it was the perfect timing to give this location the upgrade it deserved. Starting July 2026, guests will finally be welcome here. Such an immersive dining experience is a new step for Plopsaland Belgium, but they are definitely hitting the right note. Given the incredible growth of their entertainment lately, I have every confidence that this project will be a direct hit!

The grand finale, the perfect way to end your day:
To top off your visit, you definitely shouldn’t miss the all-new Plopsa Celebration Parade. It’s a festive explosion of color and energy that breathes new life into the park’s streets. Whether you’re waving at your favorite characters or dancing along to the catchy beats, it’s a moment of pure joy. Pro-tip: the full parade route is easily found in the official app, so you can make sure you’ve claimed a prime spot right along the route!

But as wonderful as the parade is, the absolute icing on the cake—the moment that truly stays with you—is the Grand Finale Show. This isn’t just a quick goodbye; it is a high-energy spectacle that serves as the ultimate emotional heartbeat of your trip. As the music swells and the performers take the stage, you can feel the atmosphere in the park shift to one of pure celebration. It is the perfect way to wrap up your day. All the thrills of the coasters, the laughter of the meet-and-greets, and the impressions of the park come together in a professional production that hits all the right notes. It guides you toward the exit not just with a sense of satisfaction, but with a massive smile on your face and a heart full of memories.

This finale proves once again that Plopsaland Belgium has mastered the art of entertainment down to the smallest detail. From that very first high-five at the gates in the morning to the final, spectacular farewell, they ensure the magic never dips for a single second. It’s this level of dedication to the “total experience” that makes a visit to De Panne so incredibly special in its 25th (26th) year!

25 years of Plopsaland Belgium: A park shining brighter than ever:
As I touched upon in the introduction, it had been a little over two years since my last visit to Plopsaland De Panne. Back then, I sometimes felt like I could navigate the entire park in no time at all, but the experience has truly reached a whole new level since those days. Walking through the gates this time, the park looked absolutely immaculate; it’s crystal clear that significant resources and passion have gone into ‘refreshing’ the existing pathways, landscaping, and iconic buildings. Every single attraction I encountered was in top-notch condition, and it’s obvious that several have been treated to a fresh coat of paint, making the entire park gleam under the sun as if it were brand new.

One striking change that immediately caught my eye was the queue for the #LikeMe Coaster. It has been completely overhauled and updated, ensuring the pre-ride experience now aligns much better with the vibes of the most recent seasons of the hit series. It’s these kinds of targeted, thoughtful updates—combined with the fact that the flowerbeds look pristine and the theming is meticulously maintained in every corner—that elevate the overall guest experience to a much higher standard. You can notice in every small detail that the maintenance team is truly going the extra mile to keep the magic alive. Furthermore, operations at both the high-capacity rides and the various dining locations ran like clockwork. Even with the bustling crowds, the staff were energized and clearly took pleasure in their work, which always makes a world of difference. My compliments, Plopsaland!

Plopsaland Belgium has certainly not been sitting still beyond the park boundaries either. 2025 saw the grand opening of Plopsaland Village: 55 luxury villas designed in a charming Anglo-Norman cottage style, offering the perfect sanctuary to unwind after an intensive, adrenaline-filled day. The best part? You can walk straight from the park gates into Plopsa Village, ensuring you stay completely immersed within that wonderful, carefree ‘Plopsa bubble.’ However, if you’d rather seek out the fresh Belgian sea air after your day at the park, you can now extend that bubble all the way to Plopsaland Beach. Here, you can rent a comfortable beach chair or sunbed for the ultimate relaxation by the coast—a unique addition to the resort’s portfolio. And of course, if the Belgian weather doesn’t cooperate for a moment, you are always welcome at Plopsaqua for plenty of indoor water-filled fun and slides.

After the magic of the Grand Finale Show, I decided to wrap up my evening by stopping for a drink at the atmospheric Joe Bar in the Plopsa Hotel. Despite the recent opening and success of Plopsaland Village, it’s great to see they haven’t lost sight of the hotel’s high standards; here, too, everything was handled with meticulous care, and the service felt as warm and welcoming as ever. The future for Plopsaland Belgium looks incredibly bright, and the momentum is clearly not slowing down. With the highly anticipated arrival of Plopsa Plaza in 2027 and a major new show on the horizon (about which the park will share more exciting details later), this destination has firmly secured its spot as a must-visit. One thing is absolutely certain: I won’t be letting another two years pass before I step back into the wonderful world of Plopsaland Belgium!
